The Story of June 2025
June Reflections: Halfway There and Full of Heart
I can hardly believe June has come and gone—and that we’re already halfway through the year! But as I look back, I’m feeling a strong sense of accomplishment and connection.
This month brought the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival, and what a highlight it was. I had the absolute joy of working alongside my friends at The Fabric Chic, where I got to meet so many of you in person. Hearing how excited you are to make my Herbert & Jewell pattern was such a gift. One of you even asked me to autograph your pattern!
One of my favorite moments? Seeing Plain Jane’s display their version of Herbert & Jewell, made up in Ruby Star Society’s Strawberries and Starry collection. Oh my goodness—too cute for words! That little quilt made my whole weekend. Honestly, you all made my year.
A Quilt Saved (and Loved Again)
Another sweet surprise this month: I rescued my first vintage quilt. The Missouri Quilt Museum had a booth with several quilts for sale, and during a quick break, I spotted a stunning yo-yo quilt in near-perfect condition. My heart hurt knowing it had been donated, and I couldn’t walk away from it. So, I called John, and well… now it lives here, safe and loved in its forever home. I’m still deciding on her name—suggestions welcome!
Quilt Block Sunday: A Rhythm That’s Rooting Me
Quilt Block Sunday is still going strong, and looking back at my photos fills me with pride. These little blocks are adding up to something beautiful, both literally and creatively. I even picked up a batch of vintage Dresden blocks at the festival, and they’ve added new inspiration to my growing stash.
More than anything, this project is helping me notice what parts of the process I truly love—and which ones... not so much. It’s all part of the journey.
Color Palettes & Literary Inspiration
I also released my first color palette of 2025, Maryanne, inspired by the book The God of the Woods. I wasn’t sure what direction it would take, but it turned out even better than I imagined. You can check it out [here]. Want more behind-the-scenes and extras? Be sure to join my newsletter—members always get bonus goodies with each new palette drop.
One Last Treasure…
Oh! And before I forget—our big spontaneous adventure this month? We saved a vintage sewing machine! On a whim, we stopped by a local vintage shop, and there she was: a Brunswick. I don’t know much about her yet, other than she needs a little TLC, but she’s definitely a beauty.
